Miami is a city located in Ottawa County, Oklahoma. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 13,704. It is the county seat of Ottawa County6. The city is named after the Miami tribe, and is pronounced “My-am-muh", unlike Miami, Florida, which is pronounced like it is spelled.

Geography
Miami is located at 36°53′1″ North, 94°52′34″ West (36.883539, -94.876018)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 25.4 km˛ (9.8 mi˛). 25.1 km˛ (9.7 mi˛) of it is land and 0.2 km˛ (0.1 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 0.82% water.
