Cortlandt is a town located in Westchester County, New York, United States. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 38,467.
The Town of Cortlandt is in the northwest part of the county. The town includes the villages of Buchanan and Croton-on-Hudson.
Commuter service to New York City is available via the Cortlandt train station and the Croton-Harmon Train Station, served by Metro-North Railroad.
US Route 9 passes through the town along the Hudson River side.
Geography
The east town line is the Hudson River and the City of Peekskill. The north town line is the border of Putnam County, New York.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 129.9 km˛ (50.2 mi˛). 102.7 km˛ (39.7 mi˛) of it is land and 27.2 km˛ (10.5 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 20.93% water.
