Neversink : New York
Neversink is a town located in Sullivan County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 3,553.
The Town of Neversink is in the northeast corner of the county.
History
The town was formed from the Town of Rochester in Ulster County, New York in 1798 before Sullivan County was formed. The Town of Rockland was created from part of Neversink in 1809, and part of Neversink was used to make the newer Town of Fallsburg in 1826. When the Neversink and Rondout Reservoirs were built, the communities of Neversink and Eureka were lost.
Geography
Part of the town is in the Catskill State Park.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 223.7 km˛ (86.4 mi˛). 214.8 km˛ (82.9 mi˛) of it is land and 8.9 km˛ (3.5 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 3.99% water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 3,553 people, 1,346 households, and 1,008 families residing in the town. The population density is 16.5/km˛ (42.8/mi˛). There are 1,960 housing units at an average density of 9.1/km˛ (23.6/mi˛). The racial makeup of the town is 96.93% White, 0.56% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.65% from other races, and 1.41% from two or more races. 2.20% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
