Orange is a town located in Schuyler County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,752.

The Town of Orange is in the southwest part of the county.

History
The town was formed from Town of Wayne in 1813 as the Town of Hersey while still part of Steuben County, New York. The current name was adopted in 1836. The first settlements occurred around 1797.

Geography
The south town line and the west town line are the border of Steuben County, New York.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 141.0 km˛ (54.4 mi˛). 140.1 km˛ (54.1 mi˛) of it is land and 0.9 km˛ (0.3 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 0.61% water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,752 people, 523 households, and 408 families residing in the town. The population density is 12.5/km˛ (32.4/mi˛). There are 666 housing units at an average density of 4.8/km˛ (12.3/mi˛).
