Stafford is a town located in Genesee County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,409.
The Town of Stafford was incorporated in 1820. The town lies between in the eastern half of the county.
History
The town was first settled in 1801. Stafford was formed from parts of the Town of Batavia and the Town of Le Roy. Part of Stafford was taken to form the Town of Pavilion in 1842.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 80.9 km˛ (31.2 mi˛). 80.6 km˛ (31.1 mi˛) of it is land and 0.3 km˛ (0.1 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 0.35% water.
The New York State Thruway passes across the town.
