Tyrone is a town located in Schuyler County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,714.
The Town of Tyrone is in the northwest part of the county.
History
The town was formed from the Town of Wayne while still part of Steuben County, New York in 1822.
Geography
The north town line is the border of Yates County, New York, and the west town line is border of Steuben County, New York.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 102.6 km˛ (39.6 mi˛). 97.1 km˛ (37.5 mi˛) of it is land and 5.5 km˛ (2.1 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 5.33% water.
