Parker is sometimes referred to as the “Smallest City in America". Parker was incorporated as a city on March 1, 1873 by special legislation in the midst of the Pennsylvania oil boom. It was assumed by the residents that Parker would quickly become a major population center but the boom soon went bust and Parker’s population remained small.
