Nottawa : Michigan

Nottawa Township is a township located in St. Joseph County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 3,999.

Communities
Centreville is a village on the western edge of the township, partially within adjacent Lockport Township.
Nottawa is an unincorporated community in the southwest of the township on Michigan State Highway 86, about two miles west of Michigan State Highway 66 and four miles east of Centreville.
Wasepi is an unincorporated community near the center of the township.

Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 97.4 km² (37.6 mi²). 92.7 km² (35.8 mi²) of it is land and 4.7 km² (1.8 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 4.81% water.

Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 3,999 people, 1,325 households, and 1,004 families residing in the township. The population density is 43.1/km² (111.7/mi²). There are 1,521 housing units at an average density of 16.4/km² (42.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 96.77% White, 1.15% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.53% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. 1.08% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Shingleton is a small unincorporated community in Munising Township in central Alger County in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is located just east of the Hiawatha National Forest, approximately 10 mi (16 km) southeast of Munising at the junction of Michigan State Highway 28 and Michigan State Highway 94. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources operates the Cusino Wildlife Research Station & Field Office in Shingleton.
