Sedona has breathtaking scenery, including the Coconino National Forest and the Red Rock Loop Rd. There are small inns found all throughout the city as well as large resorts offering every spa amenity one could dream of. Its location at the mouth of scenic Oak Creek Canyon and at the center of the state’s famous Red Rock Country affords breathtaking panoramas, a mild climate and plenty of sunshine. It is set amongst towering sandstone cliffs that truly glow with an energized red hue. Just north of town is Oak Creek Canyon with its own dramatic beauty, swimming holes, natural rock slides and camping in its cool forest. Sedona is surrounded by the Coconino National Forest, and at approximately 4,500 feet in elevation, it provides a year-round mild climate for visitors. Highway US 89A north from Sedona takes you through Oak Creek Canyon, Arizona’s first designated scenic highway, famous for the red rock formations carved from Coconino Sandstone. The drive offers national forest campsites, hiking trails, and fishing.

Sedona is a wonderful town to view spectacular red rock formations and to take in nature’s beauty. The term “Red Rock Country” was given to the town because of the colorful rock formations bordering Sedona. It began as a small agricultural town. Today Sedona is a popular spot for tourists, artists and nature lovers. The stunning natural beauty of the area combined with its relaxed atmosphere has drawn many artists to the area. Art galleries are numerous, offering many varieties of art in all price ranges.
