Arizona : Tempe
Tempe is a progressive city, with a small town college atmosphere combined with the high tech businesses. Tempe is the gateway to downtown Phoenix and the East Valley towns of Chandler, Gilbert and Mesa. It is 7 miles southeast of downtown Phoenix in the East Valley. Tempe covers 40 square miles.
Although Tempe is one of the largest cities in Arizona , it began as a small agricultural town with its flourmill being one of its mainstays. The fun and excitement of a resort, the warmth and comfort of a residential neighborhood, and the “small town” atmosphere of a college community, to make it the progressive city that Tempe is. Nearly 300 days of sunshine a year makes it possible for Tempe to bring it all together: perfect weather through most of the year, challenging places to work, a myriad of opportunities for fun, the best in entertainment and dining, great shopping, and an unparalleled southwestern lifestyle.
Tempe’s central location is enhanced by an extensive freeway network that provides access to and from these surrounding communities. Arizona State University (ASU), with its main campus in Tempe, is the fourth-largest public university in the nation. ASU continues to play an important role in contributing to Tempe’s considerable educational and cultural resources.
